i want to know what is difference between these two words listening and hearing. i think meaning of these words are same

If you say, that you "listen to" music, it means that you turn on the radio, TV, go to a concert, etc. in order to listen to music.
As to "hear", you may hear a nice music, while passing by somebody's house, i.e. because you have ears, and not because you want to listen to music.
