| We had a show like that on the Discovery Channel, or some similar station, in which people pitched their inventions. There were other ones like it, but I don't remember them anymore. An interesting thing was how people reacted when the VC or department store chain they were wooing wanted modifications to the products, and also how they reacted to demands to bring the unit cost down. It sounds boring, but that's when you really saw their humanity and the traits that would either make or break them as business people. |

Hi,
Do you have a similar show to The Dragon's Den shown by the BBC? In Germany there is no such thing which is a pity. We only have those 'find super/pop star' shows. The Dragon's Den is a reality TV show where young entrepreneurs can pitch their business ideas to venture capitalists to raise money. It's a bit like the Elevator Pitch Night.
I think it's brilliant! |
Hi Torsten,
I watched the entire Youtube video. It was very cool. I don't know enough about what Steve was trying to do to know if his idea is a good one. It sounded logical, but so did the concerns of the investors. I liked the show! It seemed interesting. I never heard of it before.
We don't have anything like that in the States. I wish they did because I have enough ideas that I'd like to pitch. Certainly we have many reality programs but none with venture capitalists and investing in ideas.
It's a great idea!
Thanks for sharing it with me,
Tom |

In the United States we had two reality shows like that a few years ago, one about regular entrepreneurs, and one about inventors, but they had their run and they ended. The fad was very short and very shallow, probably because they were more real than most "reality" shows. |
