A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near
your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new
influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory?
Explain your position.

It is a great honor that a company has announced its wish to build a large factory near my community. The establishment of a new company will have many positive and negative influences on the community.

There are a few advantages to it. Firstly, setting up of a company near my community will be a matter of pride and prestige for the community. People from even the distant areas shall be aware of my community because of this venture. Secondly, it will open up new opportunities of employment for the people of my community and the neighboring areas. It will give an impetus to the current market condition. The economy will improve which will have a positive impact on the lives of people.

However, there are a few disadvantages too. Building up of a factory will give rise to smoke and other waste products being emitted into the surrounding areas constantly. Many toxic and hazardous materials discharged from the factory would pollute the environment. These materials when mixed with water can give rise to many diseases and harm the humans as well as other living beings. Also, development of factory can lead to increased commercialization in the area. The peace of the community will be replaced by noise and hustle and bustle due to the factory. Safety of the residents can be affected by increased thefts and illegal activities.

Although, I acknowledge the benefits of a new factory being built near my community, I oppose the idea of the same. In spite of the many advantages, building of a factory can affect the health and life of the people living nearby. Nothing is more important than the health of the people, and that is a major reason because of which I am against this idea of a new factory being established near my community
