TOEFL® essay: Students, not teachers should be in control of their own education

The issue at hand is whether students should be in control of their eduction or not. This is a good issue. People think that everybody has their right to control their own destiny but education is totally different because it is so important to student's future. In my point of view, i do not agree with the idea that students should control their own educations. It is better if the teachers are in charge because they are professional and know the best ways to educate students.

First of all, I believe that teachers must be in charge of student's education because students are not mature enough to make the right choices and they lack experience to do things on their own. Think about a young student in high school, it is know that most high school students are not caring about education much, they just care about meeting boy friends or girl friends or maybe get jobs. This means that they would not be best at making right decisions, instead teacher will do this job for them.

Furthermore, Students having control of their own education means that they will not study as much. They just care about what subjects they like. They only pick the programs that they are interested in. For instance, one student likes history, so he only studies history and thus this will make the student be lack of knowledge of other areas such as math, chemistry and so forth. Therefore, teachers have to make sure their students study a variety of subjects in order to prepare them for the higher education such as university or college.

Finally, the instructors are the ones have the most experiences of education. They went to teaching school and learned the best way of teaching. Also, they were students before, so they know what students require and find a best teaching method to educate them. They are professional in this field and of course must be in charge of student's education.

In conclusion, it is shown that students should not be in control of their own education. Education is so significant to them. Better education paves the way for the better future. Students is too young to make right decisions and teachers are experienced and expert so they are the ones who must be in charge.
