Entering university is probably the most exciting time of your entire life. New friends, new sights, new sounds which are not yet routine in your life, meeting people of entirely different cultures and beliefs, and living away from home and being responsible for your own actions. Truly a transformational episode in your life.
You have done the easy bit, getting here. Now the hard work really starts, and your previous workload will appear meagre when compared to what you are about to face. This is the real thing. This is where you prove to yourself, and others, that you have what it takes to come through this a success, not only to yourself, but to your proud family members.
Now it is all down to you, and you alone. You now have to decide which path you will tread. Will you be content to just have a good time with your new-found friends, or will you " bite the bullet " and really do your utmost to give of your very best ? You have the opportunity to turn your life around by attaining academic success and thereby ensuring yourself of a good career, or of simply getting through and hoping that the fact that you went to Cambridge will bring some God-sent rewards in the eyes of prospective employers?
Work hard and the rewards will inevitably come your way. Become lax, and pray for the best. The choice is yours. Make sure that you make the right decision. Your future is in your own hands. Good luck.
