How to say 'take turns'? #1 (permalink) Thu May 14, 2009 3:56 am   How to say 'take turns'?

Hi, everyone

If I usually need to take turns for our division for around 2 to 3 times. Could I say the following sentences?

1. I need to take turns for 2 to 3 times for our division in the office.
2. It's my turn to take turns to pick up the phone today.
3. It's my turn to take turns to pick up phone today.

I want to know what people get used to say in this situation, thanks!!

Thanks for helping me out.

Maggie^^

Good morning Maggie. Your question is a little difficult to understand, but I think you need to say,

" It's my turn to answer the phone today."

or, " I'm on telephone duty today."

You can say:

My colleagues and I take turns answering the phone. Today it's my turn to pick up the phone.

if "people take turns doing something" it means that they do the same thing one after the other.
