Have vs. Has (Grammar usage query)? #1 (permalink) Fri May 15, 2009 22:05 pm   Have vs. Has (Grammar usage query)?

I have a question about using "have" versus "has" in the following:

My happiness, health, and hope for the future have been obliterated beyond reclamation.

Is it "has been obliterated" or is it correct as is?

It is correct like that. Compare:

John, Fred and Mark have been hanging around here.

There are multiple subjects so the verb should be plural.
