What does this mean? -- follow the sun

I heard this in the context of a meeting. Someone was saying they would have a meeting to resolve the issue and would follow the sun if needed.

It seems, it means working late hours. But I want to know in what all contexts we can use this?

It has to do with the different time zones.

In many international businesses activities are scheduled to the business hours in different time zones, therefore they are 'following the sun'.

Does it mean it has nothing to do with late hours? Can it be interpreted as coordinating between different time zones?
