Hi Cezve,
Welcome to our forum and thank you very much for your first voice recording! You're very easy to understand and it's pleasant to listen to your voice. One thing you forgot to tell us how to you pronounce your name and what it means.
Also, are you by any chance from Turkey? Considering the fact that you have been learning English for only two years you have made excellent headway and I hope to hear many more voice messages from you here on the forum.
Talk to you soon, Torsten

First of all thanks for the welcome.
You were right I'm from Turkey. My name is actually Serkan, but I usually use Cezve for nickname, which is a turkish word for the small coffee pot used for making turkish coffee. I know it's a bit weird choice for a nick name, but I like it. :) |

Hello Serkan,
How are things with you in Turkey? So Cezve is the Turkish word for coffee pot. Very interesting. I know that the Turkish word for tea is çay, isn't it?
So what do you do and where in Istanbul do you live?
Regards, Torsten

Hi! Again let me introduce myself for first time in audio since I already did when I joined here. I'm Phem, that is my nickname. I've been studying English since I'm in grade school but I don't took it seriously since Tagalog is our native tongue. I regret it because right now it is your advantage here in our country if your good in English. I hope with your help and other member here I'll be good or hopefully excellent in English.Thank you. |

So what about 'coffee' -- how do you say that in Bulgarian? And since you've been learning German, I can add that in German the word 'coffee' is pronounced like this...

Hey guys.
Thank you all for replying. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply before. The last few days at the school were quite busy. I'm about to graduate from university. I'm studying mechanical engineering and at the moment i'm working on my graduation project. So, I don't have much free time recently.
I'm glad you enjoyed your visits in Turkey, Kitosdad. If you come to Turkey again in the future, you should really visit Ölüdeniz in Fethiye. There isn't much to do in Fethiye but Ölüdeniz is a great beach. Very nice place. Also, if you enjoy slightly dangerous activities, you could try paragliding in Ölüdeniz. I've done that once. It was scary but still a good experience. You'll see a very nice view from up there.
Phem, I can understand how you feel about needing to know English. It's the same here in Turkey. English is a must for job opportunities these days. Actually, it's not even enough anymore. If you want to be competitive, you need to be able to speak at least two foreign languages. This is one of the reason I started studying pronunciation again.
By the way, coffee in Turkish is Kahve.
and thanks for listening.. |
