The brain of a child can easily retain things, and watching some programmes on the television can expose children to certain fantasies, and immoral acts. Therefore I agree that television programmes are of no value to children for the following two reasons;
1) Watching television programs can lure children into doing unimaginable things. 2) Watching adult programs can lead them to performing immoral acts.
Children can do unimaginable things because of watching television programs. Let's say a child sees a movie of Superman saving a child that is falling from a 32 story building,. The child then goes and jumps off a cliff hoping that Superman will come and save him too. A child can see things on TV and then imagine that it is real, without accepting that it is not reality.
On the other hand, a child can commit an immoral act after watching some programmes on TV. Lets take for example, a child that watches two people kissing on the screen, he sees it and doesn’t think anything is wrong with it, after all ‘its on TV’. So there is nothing wrong with the act. He then goes and practices whatever he has watched on the TV.
Finally, a child below the age of 14 should not have anything to do with TV. If a child needs information, he should either ask his parents or read books to get that information. For a child to be decent and grow as a well trained child, it is the parent's duty to decide what the child should do with his spare time, and not allow him to spend it watching adult movies or adult programmes. _________________ If you need me, I'm here. |
