. 'Exacerbate' means to make a situation worse or to irritate a person, so it does not fit. To make another person look guilty is to 'frame' him. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Isn't "Frame" more like to make person guilty when he/she is innocent? What I meant was that, a person is already guilty for something and the other one make him look like more guilty than he already is. For example, suppose, I didn't finish my work and I'm giving excuses to my boss for that. My co-worker, who is standing nearby, join in and tell my boss that I was spending too much time in lunch room and that's the true reason behind this. The reason from both of us can be true as well as a lie. I'm looking for a word that can be used to refer to a behaviour of the friend in that example. I'm looking for something equivalent in English. I'm not sure but I think "add insult to injury" has similar sense. I hope this help. |
