Make friendship with a lot of friends.

Can someone please tell me if the expression make friendship exists? What collocates well with friendship?

Strike a friendship?

Make friends with?

Edit: Now that I have checked it in my dictionary, I see I've made a mistake. The collocation is 'to strike up'. Sorry.

Well, you won't have to befriend people that are your friends already.

You could say for example:

'Befriend a lot of people.'

or

'Make friends with with a lot of people.'
