REPORT:
Nordhausen: Thursday 11/09/2009

I had a great opportunity to go back and see this group one more time before they finished their course and completed their TOEIC exams.
I always found working with these students to be really rewarding and interesting.
On the Thursday we did the follow work:
- Explaining Highland Games.
- TOEIC Reading Tests
- Reading and translating news articles from the BBC.
- Creating new sentences around the topic subjects.
- Creating Debate groups with topics they must argue pro and con.
This team based event was very interesting as we used the topic of Swine Flu.
The students had very strong opinions on this topic and this passion forced to students to work hard to convey their ideas.
- Finally HANGMAN using the new words from the day.

REPORT:
Nordhausen: Friday 12/09/2009

For Friday we began the day with a quick Introduction of your evenings from the day before.
The students had to create a short story of their privies evening, using a set of vocabulary created the day before.
This resulted in impressive results from the students.

After this we focused on Revision for the TOEIC test.
I asked the students what specifically they felt were weak and strong points.
The students asked if they could do more practice with the audio testing and we performed a set of tests from the english-test.net

The students finally read a article from the BBC news website.
Translated the texts to German and then created vocabulary lists.
Finally they created new sentences demonstrating the correct usage and tense of the words.

Hi Torsten, Ian and our great Nordhausen group,

I just want to say to the group, I really hope you did as well as you expected in your tests. I wish you all the luck for the future, with life, work and learning English. I hope during my future visits to Nordhausen we can meet up and have a bit of a chin-wag maybe in the form of a stammtisch.

Also to Ian, I wish you a lot of success in your new job and hope we can still hook up some time in Leipzig.

Kindest regards

Scott

Hi Scott.
Absolutely I will be in Leipzig Monday to Fridays for the next three months so I am sure we can meet up for a pint some time.

Best wishes.
Ian :-)
