I read many articles on Google about " umlaut" and its applications, but I still need more info. especially from a native instructors. Many thanks in advance.

Morning Salam. The umlaut changes the sound of the vowel over which it is placed.
Maybe Andrea can better explain.

| Basically an umlaut adds an e sound to the vowel. So A "umlaut" should be pronounced "ae", O "umlaut" should be pronounced "oe" and U "umlaut" should be pronounced "ue". Hope this helps :) |
