He thought I am sick OR He thought I was sick? #3 (permalink) Thu Jun 04, 2009 18:22 pm   He thought I am sick OR He thought I was sick?

Please correct me if I am wrong --

There could be two uses:

1) Talking about the past:
"He thought I was sick." -- seems appropriate here as we are talking about the past.

2) In conversation:
"He thought I am sick." -- is it correct when used in conversation?

In most conversations everything is allowed, I believe. ^^ But don't count too much on my opinion; I'm just a student, just like you.

Evening guys .. the second is the only correct answer.

" He thought I was sick."

He couldn't thought I am sick.

The first is past (thought) and the second ( I am) is present.
