Kit Daemon. Chapter 6. (OK, said Big Al, this is the way we will work this scam.)

" OK, said Big Al, this is the way we will work this scam." As he unfolded the plan I was amazed at it's utter simplicity, and I was almost inclined to tell him so, but I held my tongue. It wouldn't do to let him know that I admired the plan's simplicity. It was so audacious that it would work, and I foresaw only two problems with it, but my mind was racing ahead, and I had no intention of revealing these flaws. I could use them to my advantage.
" Well Kit, what do you think," asked Al.
" It sounds OK," I grudgingly admitted.
" So, you're in then?," he persisted.
" I'm in," I replied, trying to keep my voice calm.
" That's great" , he said. " Veronica, let's all have a drink to toast success to our venture."
As we drank my mind was rapidly putting finishing touches to my own plan. I could see by the knowing looks passing between those two that they too had plans, and it was my thought that they didn't include yours truly. So be it. If that's how it was going to be, let's get on with it. I was itching to leave as I had lots to attend to, but I wanted to appear relaxed and calm. I needed just one more answer from them, and then I could swing into action organising my own scheme.
" OK, well all seems clear. We swing into action on Friday around 4 p.m. just before the shop's closing time. Come here around noon and we will give you all of the I.D. that you require." said Al.
As I was about to leave, Veronica stopped me at the door.
" You wouldn't be silly enough to be planning something in that head of yours would you Kit,?" she asked.
" No I wouldn't. This plan is a dream, and all I want is to get through it and take my pay-off and scarper " I replied.
" That's good Kit. You must know what a bad loser Big Al is. There would be hell to pay if you tried to cross him."
" Don't worry, I'll be a good boy," She blew me a kiss and closed the door to the apartment.
I hurried down the stairs. I had a lot to attend to, and time was of the essence.
It took me a further two days to implement my plan, but at last I was satisfied that I could get away with it........................
