Question: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? "Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school". Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
Answer:
We are living in a globalizing society so foreign language are so important as they have never been before. Many people don't know when is suited for learning foreign languages. Personally i believe the ideal time for this is childhood, especially as soon as kids start school.

The saying "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" is extremely true in my opinion. Because children absorb knowledge faster than adults. Many researches show that at the age of 5 to 7, children's brains are at the most active state which can get a lot of information at the same time and store it for a long time. In addition, their brains are like sponges waiting to soak knowledge of the world. They are always curious and eager to know everything around them. Another superiority of children is that they are not shy to speak in front of others and make mistakes. Because they consider learning a foreign language to be a part of their games while adults regard this as their duty. That is why there are many adults failing to be fluent in another language. Also, an important thing to learn a language is practice, practice and practice. But children's duties are eating, playing and studying so they have more time and do not have to think as much about life and the world as adults. They can also both learn and play by watching TV, videos, reading colorful books or playing games whereas grown-up persons cannot do those.

Furthermore, the earlier they learn the more time they can spend on other things when they are older and at that time they will have enough knowledge and skills to be self-confident in life and fall in line with society quickly.

To sum up, chldren should learn a foreign language as soon as possible. To make them find it interesting and helpful, we ought to arrange studying time effectively and have suited methods of learning for them.
