Usage of colour (Her hair's colour was gold, etc.) #1 (permalink) Mon Jun 22, 2009 18:11 pm   Usage of colour (Her hair's colour was gold, etc.)

Hi,
1. Her hair's colour was gold.
2. Her hair was -of- the colour of gold.
3. Her hair was the colour of gold.
If you say sentence-2 is wrong, how you equate "the colour of gold"
with "Her Hair". It is only Hair and not its colour.
Please kindly explain me to understand. It is a bit confusing.
Thanks,

" Her hair shimmered golden like the morning sun."

Here's the story,
Of a lovely lady,
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold,
Like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.

Hi,
Mr.Kitosdad:
Her hair shimmered(v) golden(a) like the morning sun.
Ms. Milanya:
All of them had(v) hair(n) of(p) gold(n).
All your quotes are fine to me and they adhere grammatical rules.
2. Her hair was -of- the colour of gold.
Sentence -2 also follows grammatical rule and
I don't find any thing wrong with sentence because of 'of'(p).
Please confirm me whether Sentence -2 is correct or wrong.
Thanks a lot,
