Having read 'study vocabulary' I remembered a friend of mine. One of my friends from school got into university, faculty of Foreign Languages. She has her own method for expanding her vocabulary: she is learning by heart all the words of the dictionary bought :) _________________ incomplete.... |

Dear Thegladiator,
I don't find this way of learning efficient. If you learn 30 words per day from the dictionary beginning with the same letter and don't use them, how can you remember them?! I think, the best way is converstaion with native speaker.

So that we can realize that 'r' and 'u' are letters, not words.
So that we realize there is no such word as 'thanx'.
So that we realize there is no such written word as 'wanna'.
So that we can write coherently in actual English, and avoid chat room lingo in a forum dedicated to the proper usage of English. _________________ Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.

Well said Skrej.
For me, asking why we study or memorize vocabulary (to learn a language) is jut like asking why we buy bricks (to build a house). |
