When did the alarm go on last night?

Can someone please tell me if go on can be used instead of go off here?

No it can't Daemon. " When ( at what time ) did the alarm come on?"( Maybe.)

You could say, " What time was the alarm put on for?" ( In reference to a clock alarm.)

Hi Daemon,

You might like to look at my story showing 'go' in its many forms.

Thanks a lot, Bill and Alan!

That sure is an interesting and useful story, Alan! Phrasal verbs are really difficult to remember. :)
