Hi :

Yesterday , I tried to approach a complete listening TOEIC test , i answered very well the parts ;
Pictures
Question response
By transfering answers directly to the answer sheet .

But for both :

Short converstaions
short talks

I could not work effectivly to apply the answers to the answer sheet , which paniced me .

My Question to any one did the TOEIC before , as it iwill be my first trial , Can I answer in the Test book , then i transfer the answers to the answer sheet .

Regards
Emad

Listening comprehension TOEIC questions #2 (permalink) Mon Sep 12, 2005 17:01 pm   Listening comprehension TOEIC questions

Dear Emad,

You are not allowed to write in the test book and you won't have to time to do so. Why do you want to transfer your answers from the test book to the answer sheet? Why not mark the answers you think are correct straight away? This will save a lot of time and confusion.
If you want to improve your listening comprehension skills you should get exposed to authentic English as much and as often as possible.

Hi Tor:

I entered the exam and got 725 only , that was my first trial , now i am in the shock stage of depession .

I want to reach 810 , i got tired from English , i do not know why they ask us for so high scores to wotk in English speaking environment , however they work all over the world without speaking any other languges. This is not fair .

Sorry Tor , i like this discussion to go on to give advices and experiences to other readers .

My mistakes were through the technique of the exam approaching and my concentration /attention .

# I think i lost my concentration in the incomplete senetnce and error , by reading so fast the sentence , reaching my choice without completing the sentence/question.

#The listening talks part , is my problem , i can not conentrate to reply for 2 questions though one talk.

# I had 10 miutes after reading , i do not review ,those 10 minutes were best used within the reading efficintly .

#I got paniced with one passege which contained 6 Questions.

Practice :
I practised from this website , and the official book , which containe 2 complete tests ,Now ,i do not have resources to practise !what i can do ??

That web mirror toeic does not wrk ,why ??

I do not know what to do , can i reach that score 810 ??

Regards

Toeic prep techniques #4 (permalink) Wed Sep 14, 2005 17:09 pm   Toeic prep techniques

Hi Emad,

Once you have analyzed your weak points you can create a training program to improve your skills in those areas. For example, if you want to increase your listening comprehension you should listen to authentic resources every single day. Get audio books, watch BBC, Sky, CNN or any other English language news channel, listen to the BBC or Voice of America, watch DVD's in the original and try to absorb as much information as possible. After a certain period of time you will be able to listen to a short talk as they appear on the TOEIC test and answer two questions that refer to that recording.
Try to concentrate better when you read the sentences in the incomplete sentence section. If you have taken all the tests on our site, start all over again and see how fast you can complete them this time. Check your results. Ask yourself this question: How much time do I spend every day communicating in English?
As for the TOEIC mirrow website, I think ETS have other priorities now and you might want to try the online prep course offered by Cleverlean instead.

Hi Emad,

If you get bored of listening you should find a topic that you are interested in. English should be a tool not a goal. I think that any person can achieve any result in the TOEIC as long as that person really knows why they want that particular score and what they are willing to invest.
As for that Cleverlearn link, you have found the right one.
