TOEFL essay sample: Want to work as a member or leader? #1 (permalink) Fri Jun 26, 2009 7:56 am   TOEFL essay sample: Want to work as a member or leader?

Which role do you want to take in a team, member or leader? It sounds like a very easy question but in fact, when you consider carefully you will find both roles have their own advantage. Now I have just graduated, I want to work as a member because I don’t want to take pressure then I can get more knowledge and experience. But in the future, I want to take more responsibility then I can have more chance to prove my abilities and get promotion.
Working as a member in a group, you get less benefit in comparison with a leader, accordingly you will take less pressure. As you try your best to complete your task, you also can ask your leader or senior member in your group if you have some difficulties solving problem. Because you are not supposed to know everything, you don’t have to be the best. As a result, you can learn more and complete your skill.
Working as a leader, you have to work under pressure, take the full responsibility for the success of the project, but you get a lot of benefit. If the project goes well, you are the first one named as the contribution to it, you get a biggest commitment. Moreover, being as a leader gives you a lot of opportunities to challenge yourself, a lot of chances to demonstrate your strong point. Leader is the position that every one try to be in their career
Taking a role appropriate with your qualification will help you make a good work and feel pleasure doing your job. You should first determine which you really want to find form taking that job. If you do want to get more knowledge, you should be a member. Otherwise if you want to get a big salary and take adventure, you should choose to be a leader
