Hello,
I wrote this essay in the past, and I found it today. My writing style is very simple, which is good of course.
----------------------
In retrospect, I think my freshman and sophomore years at college were two completely different experiences. The first year was the honeymoon period whereby I did interesting things. The second year was totally the opposite because of some bad things that I wish I had not done.
My first year at college was an interesting experience. I am glad that I had the chance to meet students from all over the country. The university was a melting pot of ideas. I had many friends with multi-facets personalities. Studying in a social mosaic was very helpful to me because I learnt how to avoid personality clashes. Studying a foreign language was another beneficial thing. I am glad that I learnt about other cultures. It was good to learn cultural aspects of different societies because it helped me develop a greater toleration towards other people. At that juncture, I did not expect that some bad things are going to happen in the second year.
My second year at college was a terrible experience. There were some family problems that deeply affected me. As a result, I lost touch with the outside world, and I suffered from clinical depression and that affected my performance at college. At that time, I was quite unbearable because I got angry at the slightest provocation. I lost two of my bosom friends because of that. I should have been more forbearing with them. Now I just have some fair-weather friends because it is really hard to find considerate, patient and forgiving friends like the ones I lost. I wish I had not said some ruthless remarks to them that resulted in our break up. I also wish I had not retreated into my own shell in the first place.
My freshman and sophomore years at college were two completely different experiences because of the aforesaid things. Sweet-and-sour experiences are unavoidable facts of life. The most important thing is to chalk them up to experience because they will certainly help in the future.
