Hello everyone,
How are U? I hope this msg. gets you well & content. It's pretty obvious that I have been a member of this Forum since Oct. 2008. It really is a perfect place to learn and improve English (and also assist the novices, later).
As a matter of fact, I made this recording to get feedback or comments from you on my pronunciation/ accent. Thank you very much.

Hi Noren,

Thank you for your message. Clearly you have a strong American sounding accent. I have no problem with that as I am a great believer in people using the accent with which they feel happiest and you are consistent with this accent throughout your whole message. Half way through the message I did find it difficult to understand you because I noticed a tendency to slur your speech - by that I mean to let words run into each other. My advice would be to speak more slowly and let each word have its full value so that the listener can follow what you are saying.

Having said all that, I have to congratulate you on making the effort to make a recording and on your willingness to ask listeners for their comments. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Best wishes,

Alan

Noren, I would far prefer to hear you speaking in your normal accent. Your American accent sounds so false and exaggerated to me.
Please let me hear your normal voice. I'm certain I would understand just what you are trying to say much better.

Kitos.

About my voice recording... #6 (permalink) Tue Jun 30, 2009 16:51 pm   About my voice recording...

Hi Alan,
Thank you very much for your feedback on my pronunciation. You are the first to respond to my verbal msg. Actually, I have been learning by myself to read/ write & speak in an American way since 1998.
Some members here say that it's not my natural or normal accent. But it's a fact, honestly speaking, I speak in this way even though English is not my mother tongue.
Anyway, I would welcome their comments and treasure them as a discovery of my weak point, so that I can take a turn for the better.
Thank you once again for listening to my voice & the comments.

Hi Kitos,
I am very much glad to receive your feedback. I really appreciate whatever you wrote for me regarding my voice message. I am not surprised that it sounded to you like that.
And, can you write something in short which I can record in my normal voice?
Thank you once again for your comment.

In His Holy name

Hi, my name, as you already know, is Noren Lee. I have been asked to record my message in my normal voice, but I can assure you all that this is my normal voice, and I am not trying to develop an American accent. My whole family speak in this accent too, therefore it must be natural.

There you go Noren. Try that.

Kitos.

Hi you can learn English at BBC learning English. There you will find a lot of audiofiles in English. Listen to them often.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/

You will find many MP3-files in English on that website.

Kitos,
Who do you think you are? Should I do whatever you say? It's none of your business Evil or Very Mad I have the right to choose the subject that I like most. Will you do if I say: try learning HINDI or start a business of anykind in one of the countries of ASIA? I think you are jealous of me...
Anyway, thank you for whatever you wrote for me.

I can't listen at English from loadspeakers. I must have my discman and a loop.

Try using audio recording software like this - http://download.cnet.com/Audio-Record-Wizard/3000-2170_4-10105735.html
It allows you to record from streaming sources.

Hello Torsten and all the members of this forum,

First of all, thank you very much for your feedbacks on my voice. To be honest with you all, I speak in this way. It's my natural voice and I don't imitate or mimic others'. It could be the consequences of .... teaching myself English (US) by reading magazines, newspapers, books, and listening to the radio stations such as VOA, CSM (Christian Science Monitor), Radio Canada International since/in the mid 90s. During that time, there were no cable lines, let alone computers. And, I must say that I've learned a lot from this Forum in less than 8 months. I will be forever in debt to all those who have helped me. [Education of a man is never completed until he dies].

Well, you asked me to tell you something about me & my country. I want to be succinct; I am 28 + years old, was married but now single. She died of a liver cancer in 2003. Nepal is a poor country, but it is rich in natural resources. There are forests, unique birds & animals, lots of mountains, Himalayas; above all, there lies the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. Lord Buddha was born here in Nepal. And tell you what; Nepal is the second richest country in rivers (& lakes). Language: Nepali. Currency: Rupee. Capital: Katmandu. This much for now, more later. Thank you once again.
