Can we use with with suffer anytime, as in suffering with a disease, syndrome etc?

I think you can say "suffer with" some disease, etc., but we would be more likely to say "suffer from".

I have heard people saying suffer with ... But it somehow sounds incorrect to me.

I don't like it either, but people do say it, and I don't think it's nonstandard.
