Hello Darkangel,
I have suggested some improvements for the wording in your original post.

I preferred that she____here. The answer is stay. Is there anyone who can explain it? |
Now here is the answer to your question:
The word "stay" is the present subjunctive in your sentence.
The present subjunctive has exactly the same form as the bare infinitive of the verb. Here are three more examples:
- Our boss insists that we be ten minutes early for every shift. - Susan demanded that he stop lying to her. - It is extremely important that all of the errors be corrected.
The present subjunctive is a verb form that basically has little connection with time. It is a "mood", not a "tense". ________________________ “They still believe in God, the family, angels, witches, goblins, logic, clarity, punctuation, and other obsolete stuff.” ~ Isaac Bashevis Singer |

You current post title reads 'gramar' which is a word that doesn't exist in English. Many thanks, Torsten That was a typo and it's very easy to miss that sort of errors. Now I have learnt to preview my messages before sending them to the forum. /Maria
