When you drink... #1 (permalink) Wed Jul 01, 2009 6:28 am   When you drink...

Hi,

I have a few questions on when you drink.

1) "Say when" is a typical way when you pour some drinks into another's cup. Then you can answer "When" and any other ways? How about just "Stop"?

2) When you toast, you say something for... for example, someone's happiness or health... or whatever. How about this:

Here's to our health, happiness, and eternal prosperity!

Actually, it's like a typical Korean toast saying when you drink. What do you think? It's a bit exaggerated, but... anyway... does it sound good?

Thanks,
sweetpumpkin

One can say "Stop" or "Enough" ot "That is it."

Looks grammatically correct.

Other commonly used terms are 'that's good', 'great', or 'thanks'. There are a lot of different words or phrases you can use here.

To actually say 'when' when somebody says 'tell me when' is used, but it has a rather strong sarcastic note to it.

'Stop' sounds a bit harsh or rude, as it's very commanding. I'd probably only use it if for example they were about to fill the cup to the point of overflowing.
