Television has many positive as well as negative effects on students grades. The first benefit of television is that use television is a unique source of information for students. Television has keeps students informed of all current affairs in the worlds. In fact, events through television are more vivid than those through books and magazines. Many scientific, historical and political programs there are shown on television are very interesting and informative for students. Moreover, various television channels are useful for students to understand many field of study. For example, Discovery channel is one of the best TV channels in North America that shows different documentary motion pictures about wildlife in around world. The second positive effect of television is that it become a fine teaching tool. There are many television shows on the air that are informative and educational. Through language teaching programs, students can learn different languages. In addition, many television channels, such as NASA, History channel are really useful for students to educate themselves, and to get good grades in various subjects. Besides, even junior kids can learn many school and pre-school activities from Nick, Nick Jr., TVO kids and other television channels. Despite the advantages, television has some significant drawbacks. The first negative effect of television on students is that students watch television till late night. Therefore, they wake up late in the morning. As a result of that, when students attend their classes at school, they find themselves lazy, tired and less active than other students. Students cannot concentrate on study. Thus, students perform badly in exams. Another example of negative effect of television is that student keeps watching television for many hours instead of thinking, interacting with other people, or exercising their brain. Therefore, students memory becomes weak. The significant impact of television on students is that students become addiction to sex, violence and drugs. Many television channels are only for adults, with adults material, inappropriate language and violence. In fact, many modern movies with violence and sex, create negative impact on students mind. A student wants to copy many things from various favorite movies or movie stars. Consequently, students become care less about study, and perform badly during tests and exams. Thus, students get very low grades. In conclusion, television has many positive as well as negative effects on students grades. Television can be very profitable for students study if it is well used. On the other hand, misuse of television leads students to many problem.
