TOEFL essay example: The use and abuse of private tuition #1 (permalink) Thu Jul 02, 2009 12:15 pm   TOEFL essay example: The use and abuse of private tuition

In the matter of studying, students may have various ways to increase their knowledge to get a higher result. However, it is the article of faith that private tuition is becoming a vital method in the way of teaching. At a result, more and more parents hire private teacher in order to progress their child’ academic, and that makes both advantages and disadvantages as follows.

At a first glance, private tuition makes the lessons wholly understandable to their children. For instance, if the lessons have not caught the brain, students can be complemented and supplemented through additional studying hours. Besides, children are required to do exercises at home which are normally avoided at class, and thus will lead them to better understanding about what they have learned and experienced. Further more, a private teacher, especially who has a profound knowledge and teaching ability, can fulfill the student’s understanding by giving some extra-information about the lesson. Reality has it in abundance to prove this. In the study of biology, students are capable of getting more interesting information about the lectures, seeking the excitement of nature when learning the way the animals hunted, found mates, and brought up their offspring. In these cases, private tuition may be the answer.

Apart from its advantages, private tuition can make students too much dependent on them. The students realize that it is needless to attend the classes, receive the lessons being already given by their private teacher. Therefore, they use their time at schools just for chatting, playing games because the private teacher can probably cater to all the needed information for them. Moreover, some abuses to their private teacher to make devious means in order to past their examinations. To prove this, some poor teachers have made themselves cheap and concerned about the promotion more than their children. Hence, this will lead to a serious consequence.

To sum up, private tuition will efficiently help students if being used in the right way. Also, the educational system must have order some specific laws to make the relationship between regular school and private tuition to be indeed balanced. Consequently, students are able to achieve more to be real helpful persons and, one may hope, lead a useful life in their future.
