Hi,
My name is Bulone and this is my first voice message. First of all, I would like to say thank you to forum founder for providing such a wonderful site which gives people like me a playground to practice. And also to forum members for investing their time and efforts to make this forum alive.
Here's what I like to tell you guys about this new thread. In this thread, I will tell you all one story a day which I've heard from my local radio station. Some stories are interesting, some may be outright boring to some. But I assure you that I will try my best in choosing the story which will appeal to all spectrum of taste. In order to avoid spawning the forum with my posts as well as to make them well organize, I will tell my stories in this very same thread. I hope this would help me to be more articulate as well as improve my ability in spoken skill.
Enjoy
Bulone

Hi Bulone,

I liked your idea very much and I thought your pronunciation was very good. You could speak a little more slowly and then you would sound a little clearer. It's really a question of giving each word its full value but that said I was very impressed with your recording.

By the way - which is your local radio station?

Best wishes,

Alan

Today story, which I'm going to tell you, is about a lady from third world nation who immigrated to first world counterpart in the hopes of getting better life. In here, I intentionally omit countries' names just to avoid stirring up emotions. To get back to the story, her name is Maria. She was a school teacher in local district and lived a very simple life. Since her childhood, she had high regard for teachers and thinks it as a very noble profession which gave one an opportunity to nurture young generations with fruit of knowledge. Even though her pay was meagre like those people in all other 3rd world nations, she felt content and happy to do the job what she liked. But things started to change when she got married and started a family. It wasn't just about her and her passion liked it used to be. It was all about her family. Like desire of all mothers, she wanted to give her children the best future she possibly can give. Day by day, she grew upset from realizing the bitter truth of it was impossible to give her child a brighter future with what she was paid. Her passion of being a teacher had been gradually slipping away from her priority list. It wasn't until she got her 2nd child, she made up her mind and went to Hong Kong as a live in care-giver. It was a very tough decision for her, considering this required to leave her family behind. Nevertheless, she did it for the sake of them.

Although her job wasn't perfect, It was much better than the one from home;Wages are much higher and working enviornment was good as well. She sent back money to her family every month. For 2 years, she worked there until she got an opportunity to immigrate to this country which she is living right now. She was very happy and full of hopes as her new country allows her to bring in her children after certain period of time. But unfortunately, her job turned out to be downright miserable. Her new employer was inconsiderate and abuse her everyday. She was being yelled at and treated disrespectfully in every possible way that she could imagine. F word wasn't new to her anymore. Even though, contract states working hour as 8 hours, she was forced to work 16 hours a day. Above all, she didn't get overtime payment for working that long. She couldn't leave that job either for fear of being deported if she lose it. This lasted for two year, two long years until she got another job which is very good in every imaginable way;Considerate employer, higher pay and reasonble working hours. She is happy and hoping to bring her family soon.

Well, that's all about today story. Hope you all enjoy it.
