OK-- I'll try to remember to give it a try. So if I click 'permalink', it is that post for which the code will 'appear' (in some way)? Or I just 'Paste' it with my next click?

Yes if you copy and paste the code the link will appear in your forum post. Just try it out and you will see how it works...
