Two anomalies regarding her character are apparent: she is unfailingly____yet bursting with ambition, and she is truly___but unable to evoke reciprocal warmth in those with whom she works.
A)aspiring..generous
B)mercenary..impartial
C)impulsive..resolute
D)persistent..reserved
E)humble..compassionate

One biggest problem is that I don't understand what the black parts mean.
