Q. The opposition party had _____ such strong arguments against his position on the issue that even his most loyal adherents deserted him.

a. fabricated

b. instituted

c. marshalled

d. relegated

e. infuriated

I thought 'a. fabricated' is correct, but someone insist on 'c. marshalled'.

What do you think of that?

Please, attach your logic.

I'd go with 'marshalled' too.

The reason for eliminating "fabricated", if we apply logic, is that fabrications are mere lies which would turn against the fabricators once probed (and they would lose their case at the end).

As for "marshaled" it means to mobilize, and this could mean-mostly- "facts".
