Hello Penuel,

I have three questions for you:

1. Where did you get those exercises?

2. Are you absolutely sure you have transposed them all correctly?

3. What do you think the most appropriate answers might be?

By the way, the word in red is not only misspelled but also used incorrectly.

You could say this, for example:

"Thank you all. Your help is much appreciated."

Or this:

"Thank you. I appreciate your help very much."

Hello Esl Expert!

I am confused as in most of the sentences the choices above mentioned are seem to me all to be right like in 1), 2), 5) 6) and 7).
In 3) i think the right choice is a) and in 4) - e).

These exercises i got from test sample which provides our college and i do transpose them correctly, i just have omitted those choices which i thought might not be right. And here they are without any omissions.

1) I think the government ... check the work of the police.
a)should b) has to c) is to d) may e) can

2)... I use your dictionary?
a) can b) may c) shall d) might e) must

3) ... you address me in that tone?
a) dare b) mustn't c) shouldn't d) have to e) can't

4) You ... laugh if you ... but I was sure I ...
a) may/will/should b)can/may/might c)should/will/can d)could/will/should e) may/could/should

5)When we went into the house, we ... smell burning.
a) could b) were able to c) might d) should e) could have

6) The government really ... do something about unemployment.
a) must b) has to c) should d) can e) may

7)John's eyes are not very good. He ... wear glassess for reading.
a) has to b) must c) should d) may e) can

Thank you very much. I appreciate you help and considiration greatly!
