How to say about such situation correctly?

Before developing medicine average lifetime of human was 30 years but it's about 80 years at present.
"Due to advanced medicine average human's lifetime has prolonged almost for three times." - Is this correct?

Let me offer you my variants:

1. Before the development of medicine, (human) life expectancy was thirty years, now it is approximately eighty years.

2. Due to the advanced medicine, (human) life expectancy has almost tripled.
