It doesn't make sense as sherry is not sweet but it can be soft.
Please help me.

There are sweet sherries-- montillas and cream sherries, for example-- but more importantly, sweet and dry are two common (and antonymous) descriptive adjectives for wines. Soft, gentle and tart are not usually applied to wines.
