Test No. errors/inter-4 "When you go to France...", question 4

I wouldn't go as further as that but the main thing is that I can make myself understood in most situations.

(a) wouldn't
(b) as further as
(c) main thing
(d) understood

Test No. errors/inter-4 "When you go to France...", answer 4

I wouldn't go as far as that but the main thing is that I can make myself understood in most situations.

Correct entry: as far as
The error was: (b) as further as

You have not found the error.
I wouldn't go as further as that but the main thing is that I can make myself understood in most situations.

.
The formation is a passive one, Vivek:

...I can make myself understood [by other people] in most situations.

You cannot really make yourself understand something if it is too difficult, but you can usually make yourself understood (= communicate at a basic level).

Hi Lili6,

Your sentence:
Quote:
make myself to understand
has two problems. We use 'make' + object + an infinitive without the preposition 'to' as in: He tried to make them work harder. Your sentence also has an active sense because it suggests that you are talking about yourself trying to understand and what you want to say is that you want others to understand you. In that sense you need to use the passive as in: make yourself understood by other people.
