Well, I think you should say 'Has the problem been cleared up yet?'. 'Clear' would not refer 'us'. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Hi Hotencool,
There is an expression which possibly you were thinking about - 'Let's be clear about this'. This is used when you want to clarify a situation and you then state exactly what you believe to be the case.

sorry again.....
is 'Has the problem been cleared up yet? different from saying 'are we cleared yet?' in casual way... just like saying 'are we done yet?' |

Has the problem been cleared up yet?-- This is a direct question about the status of the problem.
Are we cleared yet?-- Sorry, this has no meaning for me.
Let's be clear about this-- This is Alan's suggested phrase, and is a statement demanding special attention to what follows (a question or a statement may follow it). Examples:
Let's be clear about this-- the problem is solved, isn't it? Let's be clear about this-- you must solve the problem immediately. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
