Mr. Kitosdad, Could I correct the following sentence - "She vowed to revenge her brother's death." as She vowed to be revenged for her brother's death. She vowed to take revenge for her brother's death. Are these two corrected sentences by me correct grammatically? Thanks, Er.S.M.M.Hanifa |

Mr. Alan, 1. Don't revenge them. = Don't avenge them. 2. Don't revenge on them. = Don't avenge them. 3. She avenged her brother's death. = She revenged her brother's death. If each pair is not equal in meaning, please guide me to correct. This will help me to understand the difference in meanings of 'revenge' and 'avenge' while coining sentences. Thanks, Er.S.M.M.Hanifa |

According to www.dictionary.com to avenge and to revenge can be used interchangeably as a verb
| Quote: |
| She avenged her brother's death. = She revenged her brother's death. |
a synonymous. "Revenge" can also be a noun: I'm here to bring the revenge of my family down on your heads! As far as I understand "avenge" cannot be a noun. _________________ con·text - The part of a text or statement that surrounds a particular word or passage and determines its meaning. |
