doesn't work, won't work or wouldn't work? #4 (permalink) Thu Jul 23, 2009 12:48 pm   doesn't work, won't work or wouldn't work?

1.
won't work= Initially it worked. But from now on, it won't work (tells about the behaviour from this time to the future).
Does not work = It never works.

This "Does not - Will not" can be applied to anything.

Except that that is not true, Suresh. I can complain that my watch 'doesn't work', even though it worked quite well yesterday.

There's no point in just presenting the answers from the Key, Lxguy. I don't need the information-- I need you to try to work out the answers yourself.

doesn't work, won't work or wouldn't work? #7 (permalink) Thu Jul 23, 2009 13:41 pm   doesn't work, won't work or wouldn't work?

I think there is no difference between 'doesn't work' and 'won't work'. So I feel rather puzzled when I read these multiple choices.I wonder if you can give me some explanations in detail.Thanks.

Both are fine and synonymous in that quiz sentence. Of course, in other situations, they are different:

My boss doesn't work on Sundays.
My boss won't work next Sunday.
