People attend college or university for different reasons(for example new experiences,career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Education is the foundation for a strong, fundamental and just society. We people are indeed integral to creating such a learning society. In my view college or university education hence assumes greater importance to creating such a learning foundation.

I agree that college education prepares individuals to chose their career path and meet their aspirations to be what they want to be. College education helps individuals to attain and assimilate new and advanced learning. It also prepares us to face challenges ahead not only in our career but in life as well. College education certainly channels positive energies, fosters creativity and stimulates interest in desired directions. Such education and degrees coupled with life experiences prepares individuals to be strong in order to be valuable for the society, community and the nation at large. In my view, college education hence is certainly a milestone in one’s life. Moreover, it is the basis for an individual’s motivation, independence and a source of inspiration for others to strive and succeed. Furthermore, it is also the foundation for advanced studies or research in diverse fields. It indeed is an institution of higher learning that broadens one’s horizons in chosen field.

I would like to elaborate on my viewpoint by sharing my own case here. Being a student of commerce in high school, I always aspired for higher education in business management. As a result, I enrolled for a bachelors degree in business that would prepare me to be a management graduate. A college degree in business provided me with greater insight into management subjects like Marketing, finance, Human resources and operations . It increased my knowledge about how organizations function and /or operate by aligning and integrating these main components of a business. It provided me with a theoretical framework thereby exploring my potential in the field of business management. A thorough knowledge on these subjects together with research projects and practical training increased my adaptability to work in a dynamic environment. My college degree therefore not only proved to be a source of good employment in a Multinational but also forms the base for my prospects of getting a Masters.

To conclude, I would add that college education today is considered as an important element of basic learning or education and not an advancement. In my view, It is a beginning to an end and not an end in itself. Education at college level is highly important for individuals to grow in this highly competitive world. A successful completion of the college degree is indeed a motivation to strive and succeed and hence is not just a transcript.
