How do we sue the preposition 'for'? #1 (permalink) Thu Aug 25, 2005 16:36 pm   How do we sue the preposition 'for'?

Hello

Thanks for helping me alwayse, now I encounter a problem regarding the use of for, I bought the invitation cards for my daughter's first birthday, in which some part of the invitation is written & we have to fill other the blanks like:

come to join fun, --------- is turning one

for;-------------
date-----------
time------------
place----------
rsvp-----------

my husband said we have to write the name of person we are inviting, I suppose it should be birthday party, please help me to resolve this matter as time is running out.
thanks

Use of for #2 (permalink) Sat Aug 27, 2005 1:23 am   Use of for

come to join fun, --------- is turning one

for;-------------
Many cards have very peculiar things written on them. They target the young.

I feel this should go like this:

Come and join the fun, Lily is turning one.
So this is a party on lily completing her first year.
for 'for" just say 'all of us' , if you feel that you should not leave that as such.
If you have a baby turning one , I Wish her very many happy returns of the day. Even otherwise to whomsoever it may concern.
