What are the most important piece of advice that you would give visitors coming #1 (permalink) Sat Jul 25, 2009 1:25 am   What are the most important piece of advice that you would give visitors coming

Traveling to a different country can be both exciting and frustrating at the same time. What are the most important piece of advice that you would give visitors coming to your country. Give reasons and details to support your response.

Any advice is greatly appreciated:)

Cuba is a wonderful place to visit, from the beautiful beaches to the friendly people, however, it is very important to have in mind when you travel to this country all the regulations and safety tips, that way you will not be in danger and your holiday would be an amazing experience that will never be forgotten. The most important piece of advice I would give visitors to my country is, not to rent a car or drive, since the roads are not safe, and not being familiar with them can improve your risk of getting into a deadly accident.

Roads in Cuba are not very safe, first they are not equipped with the right amount of signs that a driver needs for a safe journey , especially when there is construction work. The roads in some areas are in better conditions than others, Havana for example, has better conditions since all the streets are paved with asphalt, but in smaller cities, like Las Tunas or Holguin, the roads are made of dirt and every time it rains , the danger increase enormously, and those who are not familiar with them have a higher chance of getting into an accident. Getting into an accident can be very dangerous, not only the obvious reason of dying or getting hurt but also of being prosecuted by the government in case of death or serious injuries.

Tourists who get into an accident in Cuba suffer the consequences of being prosecuted or going to jail, even if in case of death the family of the decease do not press any charges. My husband for example suffered the punishment of the government since he was involved in an accident in which 4 people died, although it was not his fault, and the condition of the street was the biggest cause of the accident, the jury found him guilty and therefore, sentenced to 5 years in prison. After a long journey of appeals, pain and suffering he was found not guilty.

In conclusion, by giving this advice to tourists and visitors to my country, I want to make sure that no innocent people have to pay for the government faults, since they are the only ones responsible for not fixing the roads and more importantly for not signaling them well. Signals are the main and most effective way to prevent accidents, however, my country does not take this seriously and as result, the major cause of death in Cuba is car accidents.

The mistakes can be corrected, but a good essay cannot be criticised.
