Would somebody please help me with this test?

1. Write out the sentences, using the most logical form of the verbs in brackets:

When Mor (awake) in the morning he (find) himself much less happy about the
whole business than he (be) the night before. He felt regret at finding that he not only
(decide) to deceive Nan but that he even (make) complicated arrangements (do) so.

2. Rewrite the following sentences using the word written in capital letter (the
new sentence does not necessarily begin with the word indicated). The meaning
should stay the same.
a. I really think you should listen to your mother. RATHER
b. Jim doesn’t like Jane and his brother doesn’t, either. NEITHER
c. I am sorry, but you must leave right now. REGRET

3. Find the mistake in each of the following sentences and correct it.
a. Don’t you worry of him and his problems!
b. However old is he, I still like him.
c. For how long ago have you been in this place?

My teacher wish to do the exercises perfect from all the points of view: grammar, punctuation, order in the sentences. I have a lot of problems with "had +verbs" and I still didn't get the point when to use this form.
