Hi Bulone, I think it is correct, because "OF" is used in expressions showing DISTANCE from smth in place/time: We live a mile OF the city centre. She came within 2 seconds OF beating the world record. Regards, Morteza |

| "within easy reach" or "within short distance" I would suggest. |

| Well, I guess this isn't a common usage of "OF" then. Thanks a bunch for all your inputs. |

We live a mile OFF the city centre.
Not really that good Morteza.
We live a mile from is much better. _________________ If you need me, I'm here. |

Hello Morteza,
Your second example is fine, but the first one is not. However, the first one would be OK if you added the word "south", for example:
- We live a mile south OF the city centre.
