People have many things to do throughout their lives, such as working, studying, entertainment, and spending time with family. Someone claim it is more important to spend time working than being with family. However, I could hardly agree with it, because of the significant role of family for people and the negative effects of ignoring family.

In the first place, no one could deny the importance of family for humans. Little kids live happy and grow healthily in their family with the companion of parents; adults work hard to earn more money to make their family members live in abundance; the old people enjoy the happiness from family after retired from work. It also reminds me last summer, when my father came back from a long work in another city, the first sentence he said was “Family is perfect!” As the old saying goes, "Home is forever our anchor." Thus we should give more emphasize to our families.

However, as the development of the society and the increasing competition among us, more and more people choose to spend more time working than being with family and assert that they do that to give family a better life. Tempting as such claim might be, it is hardly true. According to a recent survey, most of the family problem such as spouse or child abuses, divorce, child neglect, or just conflicts and arguments are caused by overworking, time stress, lack of communications, and ones' own mental wellbeing rather than material poverty. Therefore, it is particularly important to spend more time with family to solve these problems.

Of course, I consider hard working as valuable quality during working and studying. And spending much time working may enhance people's status quo, bring them big money and even the sense of achievement.

To sum up, we should work hard and try to achieve success in working. Nonetheless, family could not be ignored because of its importance and the negative effects resulted from spending much more time working. Thereby, it is rather superficial to simply say that it is more important to spend more time working than being with family.
