What languages are spoken in airport announcements in your country? #1 (permalink) Mon Aug 03, 2009 0:10 am   What languages are spoken in airport announcements in your country?

In many airports, the announcements over the loudspeakers are in more than one language.

At my city's airport, the announcements are in English, Chinese and Japanese, but not in Spanish.

In Atlanta, Georgia, and Orlando, Florida, the announcements seem to be only in English and Spanish.

What language is used in your country?

P.S. When I'm in a foreign country, I often can't understand the English loudspeaker announcements.

I flew out of Denver last week, and while "enjoying" my 4 hour layover, I was really, really, surprised to hear an announcement given in French.

Then I realized I was a couple of dozen gates down from Air Canada, who, sure enough, was announcing a flight to Montreal. Too bad I wasn't on that flight.

However, Lufthansa and Mexicana were nearby also, and I never heard anything in Spanish or German.

I cannot speak about all airports of my country but in Borispol airport it seems that flight is announced in Ukrainian, English and if necessary the language of the country which operates the flight. This are my personal observations. You can hear Russian, French, German, Spanish, Italian. I'm not sure about Chinese and Japanese.
