Hi everyone,

I found that "annihilation" and "extermination" have the similar meaning, but in this sentence, which one can be used? Could you please show me the reason why?

In some countries there have been widespread demands for the ......... of seal hunting
a. annihilation b. extermination

Many thanks,

Ann^^

Hello Ann,

Both 'annihilation' and 'extermination' are wrong in your original sentence; they would be better applied to the fate of the seals themselves.
