how to use "prove" #1 (permalink) Wed Aug 05, 2009 0:44 am   how to use "prove"

Dear all,

I am not for sure how to use "prove" in a sentence:

"If this theory is proved to be true, ......"

or

"If this theory proves to be true,..."

What if the subject is changed to a person?

What is the difference between "He is proved to be right" or "He proves to be right."

Thanks

Sand

It works either way; many verbs function similarly, passively and actively.
