Hi Arthur,

Thank you for your enthusiastic comments about our site and also this facility for recording in particular. You are very easily understood and obviously have no problem in expressing yourself in English. You ask for thoughts on how you can improve your spoken English. A suggestion I can give is for you to give full value to all the sounds (particularly vowel sounds) as you speak. You could carry out a small test for example and say a short sentence emphasising every sound and speaking very slowly. Then you could play this back to yourself and listen carefully to make sure you have given each sound 'full value'. Then you should say the same sentence again at normal speed and bear in mind how you said it in the 'slow' mode. I think this way you may well find a slight improvement.

Those are my thoughts.

Best wishes,

Alan

Hi Jagadish,

I just wanted to take a minute and welcome you to the forum! You certainly came to the right place to help with learning English, meet new people, and have fun.

From the sound of your message, it looks like you really have a very good understanding of English already.

I look forward to hearing you again.

Take care,

Tom

a quick excercise #73 (permalink) Sun Oct 25, 2009 5:55 am   a quick excercise

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it very much. Here is my exercise: I got these sentences from Web and practiced, as you suggested. Further advises or comments will be appreciated.

Slow pronunciation :

The lenses of my camera needs to zoom.
The kids play hard at school.
To stop the bus you buzz the driver
The boys left to go jogging in the mud.
Our founder has five dogs
The actors raised relax.
Today we closed on the deed.
Cold draw surprisingly well.

Trying to speak in a natural speed.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.
Best. Arthur
